About Karen
Karen Holt lives in Central Ohio with her 2 teens who were born in Russia. Karen organized and leads the Adoptive Family CARE support group for Adoptive Parents and Adoptees of Central Asia, Russia and Eastern Europe. Since 2003, she has moderated the Birth Parent Contact support group, and through that, has helped hundreds of international adoptive families connect with their minor children’s birth families. Karen participated in the Parents at the 2019 US Department of State symposium: Strengthening Practice for the Future of Intercountry Adoption. She is a former Vice Chair of Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption, Including Neighboring Countries (FRUA). She was a founding board member of Parents for Ethical Adoption Reform (PEAR). She is a former volunteer for the Eastern European Adoption Coalition (EEAC) support groups. She has moderated many Facebook and Yahoo adoption family support groups. She created and built KarensAdoptionLinks.com, a resource website for adoptive families. She was a contributor to the book: Adoption Parenting: Creating a Toolbox, Building Connections. She has been quoted in Newsweek and Adoptive Families magazines on the topic of birth family searches. |
